They are suggestive places to be with the family, with friends or in personal recollection. They are spaces to live in. They must be capable of communicating, and connected with the tastes of their owners and with their lifestyle.

Modern garden: The outdoors geometry as experience

Project I

The project was carried out on a plot divided into two areas with a six-metre difference in height. The upper area contained a garden that blocked the perception of the other half of the plot. The lower level was practically unused.
The owner required a link between the parts both visually and physically, as well as a water feature on the lower level.
By studying the plot, the geometry becomes the sculptural element on which to work the design. In the process, the structure of paths and water zones appears.

The proposed vegetation is a mixed of schemes, some inherited from the tropical gardens usually present in Marbella and others composed of groupings of Mediterranean plants.
The garden finally consists of a main space next to the swimming pool. There, it is easy to perceive the aesthetic experience of the geometry. , The visual axis ends with a view of the sea. In the intermediate level there is a connection of paths and pergola area, and in the lower area a fountain, pergola and vegetable garden.

Sustainability, expressiveness, emotion, and livability.

Project II

From the exuberance of the Marbella garden to Mediterranean landscaping

New values, new styles

Increased environmental sensitivity and integration.

It is a renovation project.
The plot contains a garden which was created fifteen years ago and is dominated by palm trees and exotic plants.
The garden is made up of several areas surrounding the main building. Over the years the vegetation has been mixed and, that for sure that some original species are lost. The garden is a little bit monotonous. And the refitting is needed.

The owner requests a renovation and updating, more flowering and the presence of integrated fruit species. The building style, the situation and contact with the Mediterranean mountains lead the reform.

In our proposal we exploit the potential of the existing large species. Some specimens are moved to adapt the space to the wishes of the owner. We eliminate the aged and poorly positioned planting and we add numerous fruit trees. Finally, we complete the flowerbeds with a mix of Mediterranean plants and others for rhythm and structure.

We are currently at the beginning of a new garden and it has already become quite a spectacle.

A good design is obvious, a great design is transparent

Our garden designs

We combine environmental respect, economic viability, use of space and the concept of the garden as an aesthetic experience.

Marbella garden I

It is a new project located in the foothills of the Marbella mountain. Several large Quercus suber trees determine the garden proposal together with the modern style of the building. It is a small plot that gives prominence to the existing unevenness in the configuration of the spaces. The garden proposal is based on the idea of "outdoor space as a place to be lived in".

We propose two areas of mixed Mediterranean scrubs. They are strongly linked to the existing terraces and scenic frameworks. We add transit spaces, visual backgrounds and connections with the neighbouring plots. The palm tree units structure and connect the existing terraces and scenic frameworks.

We are interested in the concept of “intention” and the idea of taking advantage of what the plot gives us to propose singular spaces. Following this idea, we took advantage of the entrance Quercus suber specimens to create a singular and unique place.

Marbella garden II

The image shows the southern area of a proposed of new landscaping project in Marbella. A large garden for a private home. The owner is interested in the existing spectacular views, the defence of privacy in the connection with the neighbouring plots, interest in palm trees, and a large meadow surrounding the swimming pool. The landscaping proposal organises and connects the different spaces created in the consolidation of the levels during the building process. In this way, different areas appear with their own particular characteristics based on the idea of "intentionality" and the idea of the garden as a "sculptural space".

It is worth mentioning it is a large meadow, an extraordinarily large space with exceptional views of the sea, but also a questioning for environmental reasons. We approached this space by taking references from Rosario Asunto, in her book “Ontology and Teleology of the Garden”.

Due to the lawn is what the client wants, the better option is to built it for being understood as an artistic object and not as a landscaped space.
We based the design on the concepts of the “self-referentiality of the artistic object” based on the work of D. Jubb and Didi-Huberman.

Other spaces that we propose resolves the connections between the different zones, the mobility with buggy, and generates singular areas for strolling, children’s play, family life, plant gathering, seclusion, the use of fruit trees, etc. In this way, we return to the idea of the garden as a space to be lived in.

There are several areas, such as the garden next to the terrace area, the gazebo, the fountain, the staircase with the collection of palms and exotic plants, the large meadow, the flower and fruit tree walk, the distant gazebo and the monolith garden, where space and vegetation is like a modern art installation and from which a certain intellectual and emotional communication can be expected.

The large area of shrubbery is treated with Mediterranean plants due to their colour, odour and also their rusticity.

San Pedro garden I

This project is a renovation of the garden. The space is distributed over two terraces with a steeply sloping access. The client wants several spaces to make life in the garden: a barbecue area, an outdoor dining area, a meeting area to be with friends, space for children to play and an orchard with fruit trees. As in other projects, we took advantage of the singular elements or those that could pose a problem to use them as a singular part of the design.

In our proposal we fit the different areas into a distribution axis that organises, connects and gives meaning to all the requested elements. The perception of space is once again one of the protagonists. The proposed vegetation takes into consideration the client’s requirements and seeks the requested atmosphere. The layout organice zones, create planting structures and predominant views.

San Pedro garden II

This is a proposal for a garden for a private house with modern architecture. A very interesting project on a small plot. The set of proposals are intimately related to the nearby architectural elements: transits, entrance, solarium, gazebo, pergola, etc. It is a garden proposal that seeks on the one hand to defend privacy but at the same time to create an atmosphere in each of the areas generated by the architecture.

The big vegetation, palms and trees, structure the proposal, generate unity and rhythm and are positioned in specific places seeking a multiplicity of purposes at the same time.
Finally, in the southern area, a set of slopes with pergola gives rise to a special place with a Mediterranean character.

Atlanterra

This is a proposal for a garden for a private home. It is located on the slopes of a mountain with sea views. The layout of the plot facilitated a certain visual dominance from the exterior to the interior. The client provided us with his interest in certain species and plantings which were taken into account in the proposal.

The design revolves around several ideas, on the one hand multiplicity of spaces with their own characteristics, and the idea of the garden as a space to be lived in intimate relationship with the architecture. The design gave rise to various zones: entrance, paths, living spaces, enclosures, planters, cactus garden, exotic garden, Mediterranean garden, orchard with fruit trees, etc. all within a fairly orderly and interconnected organisation. The proposal incorporates the idea of collection in a language close to the fine arts.
